Purpose:

The Second pressman’s primary responsibility is to set and manage color throughout a press-run, while also keeping the press stocked with paper and participating in other quality control procedures.

Duties:

Sets ink on signature being produced

Keeps paper up in splicer

Crimps plates for next run

Double checks signature for correctness

Responsible for splicer maintenance

Documents all paper used on job

Marks unused paper for return to inventory

Trains jogger to step up to the 2nd pressman’s position

Continues to train to step up to the lead operator’s position

Skills and Knowledge:

Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of press operation

Good eye for color

Good communication both verbal and written

Basic math skills

Basic computer skills

Must be able to read a ruler

Reports to: Head Pressman
